This is the official site of Ghanaian fashion designer and artist Atsu (a-chu) Numadzi.
Atsu is Ghanaian artist and fashion designer based in the Washington, DC area. He was a fast rising artist and designer in Ghana, and played a role in the art scene in Tanzania for 2 years. His designs and art can be purchased online or by contacting the artist directly.
His art includes paintings, collages, and mosaics. They depict contemporary African life, in both rural and urban Africa. His fashions are contemporary African designs made with African prints from West and East Africa, including Da Viva prints from Ghana and tie-dye & batik from Tanzania. In addition to custom made designs, Atsu has several signature pieces, including his signature T-shirts. He has also been known for his style of blending fabrics to create unique print skirts, pants, tops, and shorts.
He now spends his time working between Accra, Dar es Salaam, and Washington, DC. He has done numerous fashion shows and exhibits, including the 2013 Swahili Fashion Week in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. His fine art was featured in exhibits at Nafasi Art Space and the Alliance Francaise in both Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Accra, Ghana.
His paintings and collages can currently be bought at La Patite art gallery in the Oyster Bay Shopping Center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Atsu also has a studio in the Washington, DC area. Prints of his paintings can be found in various sizes through the KiNu Art store on Etsy.
